According to Tea Swan…Poobong Black Tea is organic production (that began) several years ago and now produces characteristic, expressive teas. They also state on their website that Poobong Black Tea picking is floral and delicate and says it’s perfect for a late afternoon break. I tend to agree.
The leaves offer a sunny yellow brew and the flavor is light and refreshing, with beautiful notes of peach and legume with soft, smooth, velvety notes and a slightly sweet, citrusy finish.
If you are into tea pairings – they also say it’s an perfect accompaniment for desserts or fruit parfaits.
The tea itself hails from the Darjeeling Region and the leaf type is a hand plucked, whole leaf. The tea I’m sampling is the 2017 – First Flush. And I’m actually just finishing up my personal stash of this wonderful brew. I will surely miss it when it’s gone. It’s memorable, that’s for sure!

It’s been muggy lately. Don’t get me wrong…I LOVE the heat…paired with the mugginess…not so much. In times like these I enjoy a lighter type tea. Yellows, sweeter Greens, and White Teas hit the spot. That is why I went with Doke Silver Needle, 2nd Flush, Bihar from TeaSwan.
Doke Silver Needle, 2nd Flush, Bihar from TeaSwan is a hand made organic white tea. It’s a 2nd flush of the 2017 year.
In case you ever wondered about the tea process with silver needle – it’s processed from the youngest leaves collected during the 2nd flush. The leaves are hand-picked and hand-rolled to preserve the original taste; the zero oxidation formula of white tea retains the natural tenderness of the leaves, which is reflected in the flavor.
The soft and light liquor produces the finest creamy aroma. This exquisite, hand-made white tea is the epitome of delicate luxury. That last paragraph was from TeaSwan’s website and I have to agree that it would, indeed, pair well with rice and veggies.
I also agree that it had a glorious creamy-sweet flavor about it…and that, for me, is what makes this tea TASTE very memorable.

Giddapahar SFTGFOP 1 SPL Black Tea from Tea Swan is the tea of the moment for me while not only typing up this review but pulling of a pretty sweet sip down!
I’m a fan of teas from the Giddapahar Tea Estate and this specific tea is an early First Flush tea from Giddapahar Tea Estate in the Kurseong Valley of the Darjeeling region.
Giddapahar SFTGFOP 1 SPL Black Tea from Tea Swan is produced with leaves from China plants and offer a sweet musk of this 1st Flush Darjeeling’s dry leaves. Once I began infusing the loose leaves – the scent decreases from sweet to vegetal while giving off a light coppery brew. I noticed the flavor change from subtle spinach greens to musky hay to floral on the end sip. I enjoyed the twists and turns this tea takes!
It’s a mighty fine offering from Tea Swan, indeed!

Jungpana Spring Delight from Tea Swan. . . . .
Darjeeling Tea, is among the most special, and for good reason. The taste of many Darjeelings – especially THIS Jungpana Spring Delight from Tea Swan – is a wonder as it gives the smell of pure chocolate blended with spicy herbs. This variant of Darjeeling tea, hand plucked and hand rolled, is nature’s purest gift to mankind.
What makes this even more special in my eyes is that it’s organic. This was a 1st flush of 2017 and I’m coming to the end of my sample and wanted to write about it and share it with you before I ran out.
I infused the loose leaf for about 3 minutes at between 200-215 degrees and it seemed to infuse perfectly! At least perfectly for my own personal liking, that is.
Jungpana Spring Delight Black Tea from Tea Swan gives off the taste of fresh corn with a speck of marigold and gives off a deep, golden yellow brew. It’s truly delightful and delivers a full, robust flavor with very little astringency. When I read ‘smooth, refined and regal’ – according to the company’s website – I couldn’t agree more. It even finishes with a whisper of sweet citrus…how lovely!
This is a KEEPER to say the very least! Two thumbs up, indeed!

Doke Rolling Thunder Oolong from Tea Swan. . .
This oolong tastes precisely like I tossed some honey into it — without having to count calories! Cool, man!
It goes perfectly with the raisin-infused breakfast cereal (Kelloggs Raisin Bran) I had. It’s SUCH a similar profile I’d think it was in-mouth carry-over from the cereal itself, but it’s not. There was an hour in between, and that hour included a tooth-brushing.
If you enjoy a wheaty, raisin-y, sweet sort of blend, I can recommend both Raisin Brand AND this tea. Neither of which I’d had before today,* but both of which I enjoyed.
* My in-laws have a completely different set of cereals in their house literally every time I come over. Usually people have a favorite cereal they stick to forever, but my in-laws just buy whatever strikes their fancy or whatever’s on sale.
It occurs to me that my tea selection is similar. I have whatever gets sent to me by this site, or whatever I happen to pick up on my Internet travels, and then I sip it down or trade it out. Every time people come over to my house, it’s a different collection to choose from. I don’t know if this is fun or frustrating for my guests. Sometimes I go over to my in-laws’ and there’s nothing I want in the cabinet and I get unreasonably frustrated. But other times it’s a cornucopia of untried, delicious-sounding flake varieties.
They could probably start a blog like this BUT ABOUT CEREAL.
Anyway, this tea is a winner, so if you’re wandering around Tea Swan (formerly Lochan) throw it in the basket.
