This stuff is SO funky! When I saw the name “coconut tea” I was not expecting something that looked like ivory-colored brown sugar! The consistency of this is a powder that is thick and caked like brown sugar. It looks like a bag of powder, not tea. I went onto CaCafe’s website to see what all this is about, and apparently this is coconut and green tea all ground together. It is alleged to help with metabolism, weight loss, hair loss, and skin health. I was immediately intrigued, especially after seeing the consistency! What a funky and unique product.
I mixed 4 tbsp with 12oz of water (directions say 2 tbsp per 6oz of hot water). I let it cool for a bit and mixed it up a little more. I did not add sweetener because I wanted to taste it first, I wasn’t sure whether this was a pre-sweetened variety or not. It smells a little astringent/chemically. I’m not sure if it is a flavoring or ingredient used, but it tastes a little that way too. It is also reminding me of those Necco Wafers. Remember those when you were a kid? I used to eat them all the time. I thought they were so cool. There’s a powdery mouthfeel and that strong taste in this drink that I am associating with Necco Wafers. There is an underlying coconut-y/nutty flavor here that is present in the aftertaste. I can tell there is coconut, more like a coconut milk because it’s milky and creamy. What I can’t tell, though, is that there is green tea. Neither the drink nor the powder is green. So, i’m not sure where in this the green tea is hiding but it isn’t present aesthetically or taste-wise. Now, I don’t want you readers to think that this is bad. Especially if you are interested in the health benefits, it totally is not a bad drink. I keep sipping it because its so interesting and intriguing. I think that I have the sweetened variety because it doesn’t need sweetener. It’s definitely worth a try if you are interested or intrigued about this mix, and I am curious to see how I feel after a few days of drinking it. Who knows, maybe my hair will be shinier! Definitely worth a try.

Coconut Tea from CAcafe. . . .Something Different To Check Out!
Walking through Costco the other day, I stumbled upon a product that I found intriguing. CAcafe Coffee.. . .A coconut coffee powder basically. I know that coconut is good for digestion so I thought about grabbing it but our cart was so full, I figured I’d grab it next shopping trip.
Low and behold, a week later I was chatting with a very nice representative of CAcafe about their Black Friday deals. Next thing I know, they shipped a canister of their CAcafe Coconut Tea for me and the rest of the sisters to check out.
This tea is a little different than the rest of the tea in my stash. One- because its a powder. Besides Matcha, I really don’t have any other tea in powder form and Two- This has calories and calories from fat. But as the label notes, all fact in the coconut tea comes naturally from coconut oil, coconut meat, and coconut cream. And lastly- this tea also has Cane Sugar in it, not something I typically have in my tea. So yes, in 2 heaping tbsps, you have 170 calories with 100 calories coming from fat. The ingredients in this powder are coconut cane sugar, green tea, maltodextrin, and starch.
For me, I don’t typically drink my calories so this is a departure for me. But this is such a unique and interesting product, I had to try it. I scooped the recommended 2 heaping tablespoons in my mug, prepped up hot water, and allowed the tea to cool for a moment.
Wow, I have to admit, I wasn’t sure what I would think of this beverage, but I have to say, it’s quite delicious! My initial thought after drinking this was that this would make a dynamite hot chocolate or even a great added into a matcha latte to give the beverage a touch of sweetness.
There really is a strong coconut flavor throughout so if you aren’t a coconut lover, this may not be for you. That being said, the cane sugar really provides this tea with a sweetness that I think even a child would enjoy. The sweetness is such that this tea would absolutely curb any sweet tooth craving you might have. The one note that was very slight was the green tea flavor. I wish it was a bit stronger just to even out the coconut and sugar flavors.
All in all, I really did enjoy this powder and plan to keep it on hand for some time to come. Rich, creamy, solid flavor and all of the powder dissolved without a hitch. I’m excited to even add a tablespoon to my upcoming matcha lattes or smoothies. I think there is a lot of experimenting that can be done with this powdered tea and I”m excited to get started to see what kind of drinks I can create!
