Mint Sencha Green Tea from Pique. . . . .

This tea is interesting. It comes in a little packet, and it’s been crystallized so it’s a powder. But it isn’t a powder like Matcha that needs to be whisked or stirred vigorously. It dissolves immediately in hot water, I barely had to stir!

Right away I smelled mint and it immediately woke up my senses. I love mint tea so much for it’s ability to wake up my senses and make me ready for the day. It’s both stimulating and relaxing.

What I really like about this particular tea is that while the mint flavor is definitely front and center, I can still taste the earthiness of the sencha tea. I really appreciate that since I do love green tea.

I don’t drink caffeinated tea often these days, but when I do I really want to enjoy and savor it, and this tea was very enjoyable. I’ve been dealing with some minor stuffiness brought on by sinus issues, and the mint really helped first thing in the morning. I feel much more clear headed and alert.

According to Pique’s website, the ingredients are 100% organic, and batch tested to ensure antioxidant levels and no heavy metals. The polyphenol antioxidant level is high for this tea, so not only is is delicious but it’s very good for you. I would imagine that this would make a really amazing iced tea on a hot summer day.

This tea needs no sweetener or added anything, it really is very tasty all on it’s own. It’s perfectly balanced, the mint is not too strong or bitter, and it is definitely one of the best mint teas I’ve ever tried. My body is thanking me for drinking it!

Honeybear Chai Green Tea from Curiositea. . . . .

I know I keep saying how much I love Chai tea, and it seems like every new Chai I try becomes if not my favorite, one of my favorites! But this Chai seriously blew me away. It’s a loose leaf tea, so I added it to my little tea ball and let it steep. I first noticed this was going to be something special when I was emptying my infuser. It smelled like freshly baked cookies! I wanted to eat the leaves! I added a tiny bit of coconut sugar and a splash of coconut milk and seriously had one of the best cups of Chai ever.

It has the normal Chai spices like cinnamon, clove and ginger, but it also has the addition of salted caramel flavoring! It tastes like dessert in a cup! The flavors all work so well together! The salted caramel doesn’t really stand out on it’s own, it’s more of a delicious sweet flavor that makes you wonder what it is! It tastes like a cookie, but I can’t quite put my finger on what kind of cookie, but it’s a cookie you want to eat over and over.

I can definitely say hands down this is the BEST Chai tea I have ever tried. When I took my first sip, I said Oh my, delicious out loud, to myself. My cats looked at me like what the heck. It’s that good!! If I weren’t watching my caffeine intake I would be drinking this all day! It’s really like a sweet hug in a cup. I just cannot say enough good things about this amazing tea!!

Hazelberry Pu’er from Simple Loose Leaf. . . . . .

Valentine’s Day has come and gone but this tea feels like it would have been a perfect fit  for such a sweet, romantic day. This tea contains cocoa nibs, hazelnut flavor and strawberry flavor. The hazelnut flavor is what I taste the most, with a finish of chocolate and strawberries. It also has a slight roasted, earthy flavor from the pu’er tea itself which goes really really well with the other ingredients. I used to love hazelnut lattes back when I drank coffee, so this tea is a real treat. I tasted it plain before adding anything, and it’s pretty sweet on it’s own. It also has natural cream flavor, so it’s got a little bit of sweet and creamy all on it’s own.

I decided to gild the lilly and add a little coconut sugar and coconut milk and sipped away. It was heaven. This would be an amazing tea to have with breakfast, or even a delicious dessert tea. When I closed my eyes and sipped, I almost felt like I was drinking a chocolate covered strawberry!! This tea really is perfectly balanced, because it would be really easy for these flavors to be cloying, but they so aren’t. They make for a nutty, fruity slightly chocolate-y tea that is pretty dang close to perfection. I loved every last drop of this tea, and can’t wait to have another cup.

Whether you make it for a loved one or yourself, it is a delicious, tasty treat!

Green Defense from Tocha Teas. . . . .

Although I’ve been going caffeine free for the most part, I had trouble sleeping last night so I need a little boost today. I decided to try this Green defense tea which is a Jasmine green tea with chrysanthemum leaves. If you’re not a fan of floral teas, this definitely isn’t for you. My whole room smells like flowers and I love it! I was just noticing the other day that Daffodils are starting to sprout up, and spring feels like it’s just around the corner so this tea feels perfect to help celebrate.

When you take a sip, you get a definite floral note followed by a very slight sweetness. I’ve had some Jasmine teas that are too floral-y and border on being bitter, but this tea is not bitter at all.

I feel awakened not so much by the caffeine, but by the beautiful scent and flavor of this tea. I feel the same calm happiness that I feel on a gorgeous spring day when I get that first whiff of fresh air. It’s like getting a gentle hug from and amazing friend.

I don’t think I’ve ever had chrysanthemum tea before, so of course I had to look up the benefits, and there are many! It has vitamin C as well as magnesium, and potassium just to name a few benefits. The more I learn about tea, the more I want to drink it! I love that something so soothing and delicious also is so healthful!

If you like the floral notes of Jasmine tea, you will most definitely love this beautiful tea. And it really is perfect to remind those of us stuck in winter weather that spring is coming!

Roasted Dandelion Root from Traditional Medicinals. . . . .

I have been drinking Yogi teas spiced dandelion tea and really enjoying it. I decided to give this roasted dandelion tea a try. I was a little nervous that I wouldn’t enjoy it without the spicy flavor. I had no reason to worry, this tea is really delicious on it’s own. It has a delicious roasted, nutty flavor with just a slight bitterness. As a former coffee drinker, this tea kind of fills that void. It has a little more depth than other teas and kind of reminds me of coffee. But it is caffeine free, so it can be enjoyed at any time of the day.

Dandelion tea is so good for you. It helps detox the liver, and it is really good for digestion. I have noticed a big improvement with my digestion since I started drinking it. I try to get in one to two cups a day when possible.

If you were or are a coffee lover, I imagine you would really enjoy this tea. I think the key to cutting out a lot of the bitterness from the dandelion is roasting it. It tempers the bitterness and just gives it a delicious nutty taste. I have mine with a little bit of sugar and lately I’ve been using a vegan hazelnut creamer which compliments the nuttiness so well. I especially enjoy this tea when I’m dreaming of coffee and wishing I hadn’t given it up.

I’m really glad I’ve been expanding my tea collection. I used to only drink green tea, and making the decision to cut back on my caffeine consumption has really made me get brave and experiment and I am so happy, and my body is too!
