When the call went out asking who would be willing to review a tea themed coloring book, I couldn’t answer the call fast enough!
I am not a talented artist but I love to create things, so I get a little help from stamps and pretty papers. A tea themed coloring book sounded like fun!
Coloring books for adults have been all the rage for a few years now, and I have seen a number of articles saying that it may help with everything from stress levels to high blood pressure. And a lot of adults are coming out and admitting that they love to color, and they aren’t just doing it to humor their nieces and nephews!
The paper is nice and thick. I really dislike the dreary gray paper of many children’s coloring books with its raspy surface and the loose fibers that drink in ink thirstily. This has a nice level of brightness to the paper.
This paper is thick enough to take ink without draining your good markers. I checked the back and there was almost no bleeding through to the back of the page, but it wouldn’t have mattered anyway because there is a blank sheet between the pages you color, and on the other side is a fun or sweet quote about tea.
I switched to Prismacolor pencils to see how I liked using those and mixing media. There was good tooth to the paper to grab the color with a nice surface, not too raspy, not too slick. The markers and pencils both did well on the paper.
One really cool part is that you get a free music download! It is soothing background music to help you relax even more as you color away. When we downloaded it, my daughter immediately exclaimed, “Hey, that’s Kevin MacLeod!” She loves music and already has some of his public domain stuff so she was pretty excited. It is a nice selection of music, from modern and new age-ish to classical, including Pachelbel’s Canon.
To play the music on my iPad I had to download the iCloud app, and it only took a few seconds to have the music playing.
If you have a little tea area in your home, this paper is sturdy enough for you to frame your finished products for cute and funky wall art. I can just see this all brightly colored and framed hanging over a bistro table!
Tea people can be hard to buy for when they have a big stash and lots of tea ware. This would be a great gift or an extra accompaniment to a tea store gift certificate or a stocking stuffer. All this and presently listed for only $3.99. Wow! Coloring book plus music = great gift!
Here’s the scoop!
