Taster’s Review:

As I sit here, smelling the wonderful aroma that wafts from my teacup, I am reminded of autumn.  This Momijigari Black Tea Blend from Lupicia Tea smells … like autumn!  Like the smell of the air and the leaves and the apples.  There is a distinct wine-like character to the fragrance as well, with the faintest hints of smoke.

This is one of the more unique flavored teas that I’ve tasted … and it truly tastes like autumn to me.  It has notes of apple and apricot in the flavor – two fruits I think of when I think of harvest.  I like that while these are distinct flavor profiles here, they do not overpower the cup.

I’m also tasting a wine-like flavor – it is rustic and warm – like mulled wine without the spices.  I taste the faintest hints of smoke … reminiscent of the air that I would experience in the autumn as the air begins to cool and smoke is wafting from the chimneys.

And the black tea is not absent here either.  There is a warm, earthy tone to the background … not an aggressive or strong black tea flavor … but just enough to support the other flavors.

This is a very enjoyable cuppa from Lupicia Tea!

Taster’s Review:

Peach Melba from Lupicia – WOW! Okay so if you read the blog regularly you may know I do not do reviews on rooibos tea. Okay maybe I have once before, maybe, I don’t recall to be honest, but I really do not care for rooibos at all. However, I have to admit, this rooibos is not only drinkable for me, it is extremely good! The flavor additives in this tea make it so that it blends in perfect harmony with the rooibos. It is peachy, it is creamy, it is sweet, it is like dessert in a cup. It makes me feel happy, soothed, and satisfies any sweet tooth, and I mean that. I know people often say that a tea can satisfy a sweet craving, and really we are just fooling ourselves most of the time. Even after a dessert tea I still want dessert dangit! With this one though, its different. There is something quite magical about this blend.

I got this in my Happy Bag from Lupicia this year. I love the Happy Bags and highly recommend them. Lupicia sells them every year right after midnight on the 1st of January. I got the 60.00 bag this year but next year I will be saving up for the 100.00 bag! Lupicia also offers a 30.00 bag as well.

Now another way you can know just how yummy this rooibos is, is that it is 12:30 am. I am tired, and I really had no intentions of doing a review at this hour. However, when I made this cup I just had to jump on here and do this review because it inspired me! I even rated it 100 on steepster because if a rooibos impresses me it deserves the highest rating possible.

There really isn’t much more I can say about this rooibos from Lupicia other than once again, Lupicia has not disappointed me! Well there was one tea, one time from Lupicia that I did not care for but it was also a rooibos blend. I passed onto one of my SororiTea Sisters because I did not care for it but that was because as usual I can’t tolerate rooibos. Which is only more proof that this one is really darn good!

If you love peaches, and you love cream, and you like rooibos, then get some because this is just the cream of the peach crop here!

Taster’s Review:

I love champagne and wine infused teas. This Champagne Rose from Lupicia Tea is one of my favorites. I really enjoy that this is blended with black tea rather than white which is rare as most champagne infused teas are in a white tea base due to the more delicate nuisances of white tea and the lighter flavor of champagne but Lupicia has figure out a way to make a black tea really sparkle with champagne flavor!

Now technically this is called Champagne Rose’ not Rose, but for the sake of finding it in the database here I left off the ‘ on Rose’. There is no rose in this tea. Rose’ would reference more of a pink champagne flavor due to the strawberries I suppose.

The strawberry notes are on the light side but oh so wonderful! The tea tastes just like fresh juicy strawberry. Mixed with the sparkling note of champagne we have ourselves a real winner.

The black base is that of a generic black tea, hearty and robust, with no real hints of maltiness, or cocoa elements. In other words fairly non de-script, except for just the right hint of astringency to compliment the champagne flavor note. I think somehow that slight astringency works with the flavors of this tea as not to outshine the delicate notes of strawberry or champagne, yet adding just the slight touch of dryness and astringency you would find in champagne.

I adore Lupicia Tea and have only found one or two out of all their blends that I did not enjoy throughly. Usually that is due to them being a red rooibos blend, I am simply not fond of red rooibos. Other than that, for me, Lupicia Teas are one of my favorite brands.

As a person who does not consume alcohol, this Strawberry Rose from Lupicia is my celebratory tea!
