Taster’s Review:

I am liking this Energy Green Tea Blend from Byron Bay Tea Company, even though I really didn’t think I would like it.  It’s got two strikes against it right at the start:  hibiscus – yikes!  ginseng – ugh!  But I’m enjoying it … it would seem that it’s a hit even though it started out with a lot going against it.

The berry flavor is strong.  I can taste the currants and the strawberries and hints of blackberry.  And yes, I do taste the hibiscus, but somehow, when paired with berries, hibiscus is less … difficult for me to drink.  Hibiscus seems to highlight the tart notes of the berry and somehow make the berries taste a little more like berries.

The green tea is tasted in there too, although I will say that the flavor is slightly obscured by the rest of the ingredients.  I taste the fresh vegetal tones of the green tea though, and I like the way all these ingredients work together – yes, even those ingredients that I’m less than enthused about!

Overall, this is a refreshing drink, and it lives up to its promise as stated in its name – it’s an energizing beverage that will help get you going when you need that snap of vitality.

Buddha’s Tears from Byron Bay Tea Company

Tea Information:

Leaf Type:  Green & White

Where to Buy:  Byron Bay Tea Company

Product Description:

Buddha’s tears roll tenderly from the tea plant; made with the bud and first two leaves. Carefully plucked and hand-crafted into tiny pearls, they are then scented with fresh jasmine blossoms. Once removed from their floral cocoon, the tiny pearls are ready to be brewed. With a pale liquor and delicate taste, Buddha’s tears provide a soul-soothing treat at any time of day.

Ingredients- Green and White tea scented with Jasmine Flowers

Taster’s Review:

What a lovely jasmine tea!

The ingredients confuse me just a little – this is a “pearl” jasmine tea, and so I don’t know where the white tea comes in to play, unless they are considering the bud attached to the two leaves the white tea.  But, it hardly seems necessary to fuss over such details.

These little “tears” unfurl slowly, releasing their intense flavor… which means many happy infusions for this jasmine enthusiast!  The flavor is sweet and silky.  Sometimes jasmine can come off as slightly bitter or soapy, but not this time.  The jasmine simply tastes lightly floral.  It is very soothing and restorative – and to get full effect of the relaxing effects of this tea I strongly recommend inhaling deeply – taking in the fragrance – before you sip.

The green tea/white tea is delicate and very soft … like clean air and crisp spring leaves!  It has a very comforting feel to it as it washes over the palate.  A delightful tea any time of the day, I find it most welcome later in the afternoon to help calm frazzled nerves.

I do not recommend sweetening this tea as it would overwhelm the gentle flavors of this tea.  I prefer it hot, but it makes a nice iced tea as well (and when I ice jasmine tea, I do add a little sweetener just to perk up the flavors).  It is a refreshing and beautiful tea, no matter how you choose to serve it!

Japanese Quince Green Tea from Byron Bay Tea Company

Tea Type: Green Tea

Where To Buy: Byron Bay Tea Company

Product Description:

A brightly-coloured infusion, with jade green undertones, this exotic blend balances the sweetness of quince with a delicate base of Japanese green tea. Green tea is prized for its antioxidant constituency and subsequent benefits to health (particularly digestion). The result is a rejuvenating, aromatic and refreshingly palatable tea that can be enjoyed any time of the day.

Tasters Review:

I can’t say as I have had too many or any Quince flavored teas YET but after tasting this one from Byron Bay Tea Company I surely want to try more!

The sweet green tea taste is delightful – the quince was MADE for this tea and it’s juicy but not tart in the slightest – and the Jasmine isn’t over the top or even that strong at all but gives it an overall ‘pretty’ factor that completes the cup.

The Quince is the key and it is good!  Overall, it’s a gentle, fruity, sweet, yet pretty flavored green but I like this!   I really like this!

Tasters Review:

This is an INCREDIBLE Jasmine!  Most of you know I usually don’t get all warm and fuzzy or overly excited about Jasmine Teas! BUT… I really didn’t know Jasmine could taste like this! It’s truly amazing!

It’s very sweet and clean and SMOOTH…it’s very soothing…

There is NO stale or perfumy type after taste that lingers (in a bad way) if you know what I mean!

This is MY KIND OF JASMINE!!!!  This just may be my favorite Jasmine to date!  This one REALLY surprised me and was very memorable!  Nicely done, Byron Bay Tea Company!

Taster’s Review:

Jasmine teas are among my favorite teas.  And what I love most about jasmine teas is the aroma.  This Jasmine from Byron Bay Tea Company smells amazing!  Before brewing, the dry leaf reminds me of the smell of air.  But not just any air… imagine walking through a grassy meadow, and all around you are jasmine vines.  Imagine how delightful the air would smell!  That’s what this tea smells like in dry form.  The brewed liquor takes on a slightly lighter fragrance, but, it is still quite enchanting.

And it is so delicious.  The green tea is soft – almost like velvet – on the tongue, with a pleasantly fresh taste.  I am getting very little astringency here, and no bitterness.  Just a lightly sweet taste that unites well with the jasmine notes.

The jasmine flavor is in perfect balance with the flavor and texture of the green tea.  Soft, delicate, sweet – but not too much of any of these.  This jasmine does not have that pungent floral sharpness that so often accompanies jasmine teas.

In fact, if I were to choose just one word to describe this tea, the word would be soft.  But do not confuse the word “soft” with “lack of flavor” because this tea has flavor!  With this tea, when I say “soft” I am talking about silky soft… micro-plush kind of soft.  Textural soft.  That texture translates so well into the flavor that soft becomes a flavor here.

Absolutely delicious!  A must try for lovers of jasmine tea!
