Bubblegum/The NecessiTeas – Ashmanra-

It is hot and humid and hasn’t been a very fun day. Harrumph. I looked to my samples stash to find something light to cheer me up. Bubblegum sounded perfect!

This is a green tea with long, lightweight leaves and my second teaspoonful had a REAL GUMBALL in it! Be sure you scoop enough leaf for this one or go by weight instead of spoonfuls, leaving the gumball off the scale!

The instructions says to use water “just under boiling” but I went with my usual green tea temp and used 175F water for three minutes. Of course when I retrieved the infuser basket from the pot, I had to check to see what happened to the gumball! The color and hard coating were gone and a smaller sticky globe was there. Perhaps hotter water would have melted it entirely.

I drank a cup of this hot, and it was good, fruity, but not really screaming GUMBALL at me. It was just a pleasantly fruity green tea with a very light sour or brisk edge barely there. I didn’t add anything to it.

I put the rest of the tea in the fridge to chill for supper. I think I like it even better this way. The edge I tasted when it was hot is gone, and I am left with a light, refreshing, fruity green tea. I have enough leaf left for one more pot, and I will go unsweetened iced tea all the way with the balance of it.

BubbleGum from The NeccesiTeas- A Unique Tea for Sure

Bubblegum Tea. Yep. That is really a thing. And can I just say, I’m so glad it is!

The NecessiTeas is one of those tea companies that I’ve always drooled at their offerings but never took that step to actually order from them. I don’t know why. They have some pretty fantastic flavored teas.

Bubblegum Tea is a green tea full of green tea, natural and organic flavors and well, gumballs! There truly are gumballs right now floating in my steeper. Just makes my tea soul happy.

Brewed with water prepped at 180 and allowed to steep for about 4 minutes, I took my first sip. This tea’s aroma is incredibly sweet. I was hoping the aroma translated into a sweet yet not overly sugary taste.

And that is exactly what happened. This tea is a lovely balance of a rich buttery smooth green tea with a sweet note that is candy-esque. Though I don’t get a true bubblegum flavor, I definitely come away with a sweet flavor that would curve any sweet tooth. I’m loving this unique flavor. I’m glad there aren’t any additional fruity notes and this tea is going in the direction in the way of candy. Makes me feel like I’m eating something I shouldn’t without the calories.

Perfectly delicious but delicate enough that the sweetness doesn’t overwhelm. Now I need to take a serious look at more of The NeccessiTeas offerings. I’m adoring this blend and wish I had more!

Bubblegum from The NecessiTeas. . . Let the childhood memories begin!

Before I start, I just want to say that The NecessiTeas certainly knows how to fill a tin. I have been opening up new tins of their blends all day and I have spilled tea out of almost every tin. Granted, I may not have been particularly careful and I probably should have learned after the first spill but I am so used to tins being less filled that I didn’t really think about it. Oh well, more tea for me I suppose, especially since it looks like I didn’t even use any tea yet since the tins are still that full.

This particular tin is filled with not only tea but gum as well. Not just any gum either. This blend is filled with the colorful gumballs of everyone’s childhood. The 25 cent gumballs dispensed out of the giant red gumball machines. It’s definitely a blend to bring out the nostalgia in you.

So it might be colorful and look fun but what really matters is the taste. Like all the other NecessiTeas blends I have tried, this one tastes pretty true to its namesake. Sweet and sugary but not cloying in the slightest. Add to that a bit of fruitiness and you got this tea. The green tea base remains completely hidden which is good since I doubt a vegetal flavor would go very well with the rest of what’s going on here.

All in all, like the gumballs for which it is named, this is a sweet treat to have every now and then. It’s got just enough flavor to keep things interesting without being over-the-top. Plus, it is certainly a fun blend for those who want a little bit of novelTEA in their lives.

Taster’s Review:

I have to say, steeping- this tea has a unique aroma coming from it. The description fits it perfectly. It smells like a candy store where there are a bunch of sweet treats all mixed together. Just from the dry leaf alone I can pick up what smells like bubble gum, cotton candy, and suckers with a grape and orange twist. Very unique indeed!

This is my first experience with Palais des thes. I’ve always wanted to try tea from them in the past but have never really come across it or think about the company when I’m looking for my next tea fix.  I was excited to see this offering in my last set of teas to review.

This unique blend consists of 7 different fruits and plants and is just so much fun to look at.  This is one of those teas that just put you in a happy mood while you are steeping it. I brewed this up with water prepped at boiling and allowed the herbal tea to brew for about 5 minutes.  The tea was a lovely light pink or rose color.  This tea just screamed for an afternoon tea time with proper biscuits and cookies. Or even to be served at a little girl’s tea party.

I allowed the tea to cool for a few moments and took a sip. What I am greeted with is a flavor that really reminded me of the aroma I was getting from the dry leaf.  I swear this tea tastes like a bubblegum cotton candy mix with a slight hint of a chocolate undertone. A very unique herbal tea. That taste tho doesn’t seem like one that fits a hot tea very well so I tossed in a few iced cubes to see how this tea would play out as iced and also a lemon wedge.

The iced cubes seemed to really intensify the chocolate flavors.  Those seem to be the first ones I’m  now greeted with instead of the bubblegum cotton candy mix. That being said, the iced tea with lemon didn’t work out so well so I took the lemon wedge out and just enjoyed the unique cuppa I had. I wish this would be a great iced bubble gum cotton candy flavor like I was getting from the hot tea but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Regardless, this is one unique cuppa tea that takes you on a tasting adventure for sure!
