Black Bear from Banff Tea Company. . . .

In the winter – I’m sort of a hermit. Or I tend to want to hibernate like a bear. Regardless – that is what this tea remind me of…a nice tea to sit down and hibernate with. A nice tea to sip on when you are overly frustrated with winter, too, because one sip will having you thinking SPRING is right around the corner.

The tea I’m writing about today is Black Bear from Banff Tea Company. It’s flavored black tea with enough caffeine to light a figurative fire under your butt in the morning. “This blend is indeed black and contains enough berries and leaves to satisfy any of the Park’s locals,” according to the company website.

The origins hail from Sri Lanka and the ingredients are Black tea, blackberry leaves, elderberries, dried blackcurrants, hibiscus, mallow flowers, sunflower petals, cornflower petals, natural Flavoring.

I’m not a fan of hibiscus so when I tasted the berry and realized this flavored berry tea did NOT contain hibiscus in it I nearly jumped for joy! This is a nicely done berry flavored black tea. The flavor ratios are very pleasing.

This is great iced but very good hot, too! It’s naturally sweet on its own and a delightful cuppa!

Climber’s High from Banff Tea Co. . . .

I’ll be right upfront about this tea…it exceeded my expectations! There, I said it. I suppose I should elaborate, eh!? Okay…here ‘goes…

Climber’s High from Banff Tea Co. is pretty darn incredible! It features green tea, yerba maté, peppermint, goji berries, safflower petals, and natural flavoring.

The green tea is a mild and mellow semi-sweet type of green. The yerba mate gives it that raw sweet pea or sugar snap pea type flavor that I always associate with yerba mate. The peppermint is…what do the kids say…ON POINT!? The goji berries contribute a plump yet semi-muted fruity-berry hint. Then there are subtle floral flavors underneath, too!

I’m obsessed with peppermint so – for me – that totally makes this overall STELLAR in my book…but…if you aren’t a HUGE fan for fresh minty-ness…I think you would still enjoy this tea because it’s not over the top or overdone with the mint.

This is delightful hot but also pretty amazing when iced, too!

I would put this into my ‘daily drinker’ category for sure! An excellent green tea and yerba mate blend, folks! Give it a whirl!

Perfect for Valentine’s Eve: An Evening with Eros from Banff Tea Co.

Just like a good Valentine’s date, An Evening with Eros tea blend comes bearing roses and chocolate.

There’s enough of both ingredients that you can see chocolate chips and petals scattered throughout the dry leaf. The namesake of this blend is Eros, the Greek god of love, and since this is a decaf rooibos blend, it’s the perfect brew for a late night out or a cozy evening in.
The vanilla rooibos is the star player in this blend, coupled with gentle swirls of chocolate and flowers. Raisins and elderberries bring additional sweetness and play well with the natural woody and caramel notes of the rooibos.

This blend is easy and drinkable, though not the most unusual blend I’ve tried. I think this tea is best for its novelty for a romantic occasion.

With Valentine’s Day on my mind, I find myself reaching for An Evening with Eros to help treat myself to something festive and to keep me warm on a February night.
