I typically don’t pick white tea or white tea blends because I find the flavors to be very delicate. Sometimes I’m in the mood for them, but I typically want something stronger and more flavorful. This tea smells delicious – a lovely, grassy white tea with a strong note of raspberry.
Sipping… I first taste that creamy, somewhat floral white tea base. It reminds me of other white tea blends I’ve had before. The raspberry comes next, but it’s really combined with a general sweetness. I wish that I could pick out more of the raspberry – I was hoping for something a little bit more jammy and sweet. While I haven’t had hindbaersnitter before, I have a feeling that it might offer a little bit more than what I’m tasting. I wish that I could taste the sugary glaze and the shortbread pastries. While rather delicate, it is enjoyable and sweet, but I just want more. I do like the fact that the white tea doesn’t taste too much like grass or hay and allows for the raspberry to shine a little. It’s balanced, but a little too light for me.

Is this my reblend of the tea? If so, I used White Peony as the base of the tea – not Shou Mei. The original was blended with Shou Mei, I reblended it with a better base.
